Design and build 

All Galaxy A series smartphones have this familiar look with a dew drop notch (wherein the selfie camera sits), a rather slim bottom bezel, a display of its size with its corners curved in keeping with the curves of all four corners of the phone itself, even slimmer side bezels (almost impossible to tell), a back panel with Samsung branding and main camera (three lenses for A90 5G) in vertical orientation on the top right corner.

At least all these are true for Samsung Galaxy A90 5G which weighs 206 grams and is about 8.4mm thick. Its looks will strike some and still be okay with others. It isn’t one of those top-notch works of art when we consider its design language. It still is fluent though. The feel in hand is something close to heaves, especially before you get used to it.

Generally, I’d say, the Galaxy A90 5G is better known for other features than its design. And before I forget, the display panel has a fingerprint scanner beneath it. There’s an animation that will guide you through the simple process whenever you are unlocking.

Display and camera

Sometimes these two go hand in hand, especially when both have good reports. And that being the case here I chose to talk about them under one segment.

Display 

You will be pleased with the type of display panel Samsung chose for Galaxy A90 5G. A Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen it is. And the results of this decision will be ever evident each time you wake up your phone. Other times when you are just quickly checking your notification without doing so- thanks to the Always on display feature.

The panel is 6.7 inches in estate and covers a 108.4cm2 surface area with an 86.1% screen-to-body ratio. Also, by turning focus to the resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels you will surely see for yourself how neatly and sharply images are presented on this beautiful 20:9 ratio panel. Viewing angles are great as one would expect with an AMOLED panel by Samsung.

Camera 

Now let us talk about the cameras. First is the main camera which has three lenses. The first is a whooping 48MP (wide) lens, an 8MP (ultra wide) lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. I have described each in a self-explanatory way. With the primary camera, you can shoot videos in 4K quality 2160p@30fps video recording and 1080p@30fps video recording with its impressive 32MP HDR selfie camera.

Performance 

Samsung Galaxy A90 5G runs Android 9 (Pie) with One UI theme by Samsung. A Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 (7nm) chipset powers it and it has an Adreno 640 GPU. Also present is an octa-core (1 x 2.84 GHz Kyro 485 & 3 x 2.42 GHz Kyro 485 & 4 x 1.78 GHz Kyro GHz 485) CPU. This is a high-end device no doubt about it. Snapdragon 855 chipset is a flagship hardware. Expect a brilliant performance here, and nothing short of it.

Storage and memory 

Choose either a 128GB + 6GB RAM or 128GB + 8 GB RAM Galaxy A90 5G. Internal storage expansion using microSD up to 512GB has been allowed for the 6GB model only.

Battery 

You will also enjoy hours and hours of screen-on-time with Galaxy A90 5G because of its 4500mAh battery. What a capacity to pack with a phone. Way to go Samsung.

Some high-end smartphones are actually not worth recommending because they do not meet the market’s hype. But the Samsung Galaxy A90s is not one of them. This is a one-of-a-kind smartphone.
